with subscription and purchase terms for the boba. app
A subscription and a one-time purchase are planned but have not started yet. During testing, boba. is completely free and nothing can be bought in the app. Later, some games will be free; you will then unlock all games with a subscription (weekly, monthly or yearly) or a one-time purchase. Sections 2 to 7 describe this and apply only once it launches on the App Store.
1. License
I grant the license to use boba. Apple's Standard End User License Agreement (Standard EULA) applies. The seller on the App Store is Apple; for buyers in the EU this is Apple Distribution International Ltd. (Ireland). This page also explains what is free, what the subscription and the one-time purchase include, and how purchase, renewal and cancellation work.
2. Free, subscription and one-time purchase
Some games can be played in full without buying anything, each with its standard category. You unlock all other games and categories, plus new content that arrives with updates, in one of two ways: with a subscription or with the one-time purchase “Unlock everything – forever”. Individual games or categories cannot be bought. The app shows which games and categories are free. boba. needs no account and no internet connection for playing.
You see the prices in the app and on the App Store in your currency before you buy. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase.
3. Subscription: durations and free trial
The subscription is available weekly, monthly and yearly. All three include the same content.
Free trial: Each duration comes with a free 3-day trial if Apple shows you as eligible. You can only get it once, whichever duration you choose. After that the subscription renews automatically at the price shown. To avoid being charged, cancel the trial at least 24 hours before it ends.
4. Subscription: renewal and cancellation
The subscription renews automatically for the chosen period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You can cancel at any time through Apple:
- on your iPhone under Settings → your name → Subscriptions → boba. → Cancel Subscription, or
- in the app under Settings → Manage subscription.
The subscription then stays active until the end of the paid period. In Germany you can also cancel with immediate effect through Apple Support and receive a pro-rata refund for the unused part (Apple: cancelling in Germany).
5. One-time purchase “Unlock everything – forever”
The one-time purchase permanently unlocks all games and categories for your Apple Account, including those added in later updates. It is not a subscription: you pay once, nothing renews, and there is nothing to cancel. Whether there are updates depends on boba. being developed further and on your iPhone supporting the relevant iOS version.
If you already have a subscription, it keeps running after the one-time purchase until you cancel it; Apple does not end it automatically. So cancel it as described in section 4.
6. Refunds and withdrawal
Request refunds from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, for the subscription as well as the one-time purchase. Where a right of withdrawal applies, you exercise it through Apple; for subscriptions only after the first purchase. Details are in the Apple Media Services Terms for your country.
7. Restoring purchases
On a new iPhone or after reinstalling, tap Restore purchases in the app's Settings. This works for the subscription and the one-time purchase. You need the same Apple Account you bought with and an internet connection.
8. Play fair
boba. is a game for groups. You can end any round at any time, and nobody has to do a task. Don't do anything that is dangerous, illegal or makes someone uncomfortable. If a task mentions a drink: alcohol only if you are old enough, and always voluntarily.
